Yukon, deal #2

gentle

Deal #2 is one of the easier deals in this series. Our solver won it in a line of 43 moves, so it can certainly be won.

Notes on this deal

  • 1 Ace lies uncovered at the end of a column, ready to go home with your first move.
  • 2 Aces are buried four or more cards deep; the deepest is in column 6, under 9 cards. Plan how to reach it before anything else.
  • A King already sits at the head of a column, so that column never needs emptying.
  • 2 Kings are face down. Buried Kings can only leave for an empty column; plan for the space they will need.
  • Simply playing the most promising move each time wins this deal, so it makes a good warm-up.
  • 8 useful moves are open from the start. Prefer the ones that turn over a card or free an Ace.
Stuck? The solver's first moves

These are the first moves of the solver's winning line, with automatic moves to the foundations switched on.

Yukon in a nutshell

There is no stock. Build the foundations by suit and the columns down in alternating colours; any face-up card moves with everything on top of it. Only Kings go into empty columns.
