Klondike (draw 3), deal #11
formidableThis Klondike deal is rated formidable: among the hardest deals in this series. The solver found a winning line of 92 moves.
Notes on this deal
- Watch column 6: an Ace waits there under 5 cards.
- On the first pass through the stock you can reach 8 cards, none of them an Ace. The rhythm will have to change before the Aces turn up.
- 2 Kings are face down. Buried Kings can only leave for an empty column; plan for the space they will need.
- This deal punishes autopilot. A test play of the obvious moves gets just 5 of 52 cards home before it is stuck.
- Only 2 useful moves are open at the start, so the first decision matters.
- The solver's line turns the stock 47 times.

Klondike in a nutshell
Build four foundations by suit from Ace to King. In the seven columns build down in alternating colours, move ordered runs together and fill empty columns only with Kings. Turn the stock as often as you like.
